Water Chestnuts are a popular plant in Asia as it sprouts a fruit that looks like bull horns, which is a delicacy. They are best kept in ponds as they prefer long lighting hours (up to 16 hours) and a large space to grow their long roots. Its roots can grow up to 5m in length and will anchor into the substrate, leaving the leaves floating on the surface. It is difficult to keep Water Chestnuts in an aquarium as they require long lighting hours, plentiful nutrition, and a large space for their roots to grow into.
