Sisyrinchium campestre (PRAIRIE BLUE-EYED GRASS)

bloom May-Jun | height 1’ | full sun

A great short and cheery plant for sunny dry spots, blue-eyed grass provides a flower to fill the gap between spring and summer. Mass plant this one and dot in some taller species for a stylized planting, or wind it around a tall-canopy tree or for a shorter level along a walkway.

This species is native to Cook County,

Plants that grow well with blue-eyed grass: Asclepias tuberosa (butterfly milkweed), Sporobolus heterolepis (prairie dropseed), Bouteloua gracilis (blue grama)
