“Beverly Hills, 90210” star Brian Austin Green is opening up about a years-long health battle, which left him bedridden for months with stroke-like symptoms — unable to speak, read or write.

“I’d spent four and a half years recovering from stroke-like symptoms without ever having had a stroke but I couldn’t speak,” the veteran actor told Cheryl Burke on a recent episode of her “Sex, Likes and Spray Tans” podcast.

Doctors eventually diagnosed Green with vertigo and ulcerative colitis, which he said led him to be bedridden for three months. According to the Mayo Clinic, ulcerative colitis is an inflammatory bowel condition which causes ulcers in the digestive tract. In a 2022 interview with “Good Morning America,” Green shared he lost 20 pounds because of the disease.

“Then these neurological things started happening after the vertigo, and that was — it was four and a half years of my life,” Green explained. “I got to the point where I shuffled like I was a 90-year-old man … I couldn’t speak. I couldn’t read. I couldn’t write.”

Green shared that specialists were unable to determine the cause of the ailments, so he decided to look for answers elsewhere. The 50-year-old father of five eventually discovered the debilitating conditions were due to “internal inflammation from gluten and dairy.” He said stress also factored into his failing health.

“It was all undiagnosed by Western medicine, so I ended up having to finally find a doctor that is much more into, like, kinesiology and Eastern medicine,” he revealed, noting that nearly 200 blood tests and two MRIs were performed.

Thankfully, the “Anger Management” alum — who in recent years has appeared on “The Masked Singer” and “Dancing with the Stars” — has gotten himself back into tip-top shape. He can currently be seen competing on the second season of “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test,” alongside YouTube personality JoJo Siwa, “Vanderpump Rules” bad boy Tom Sandoval, Olympic alpine ski racer Bode Miller and former NFL star Dez Bryant, among others.
