Knotting your tie is a tradition that requires as much skill as practice, and whose choice depends on the shirt, collar, length of the garment and the occasion. The tie, that is hardly more than a simple strip of silk knotted around the neck, can adopt a thousand and one variants, each one more elegant and complex in its elaboration.

Do you know all kinds of possible knots?

Eldredge Knot

Eldredge Knot
There is no doubt that this knot is unique in its class. Unlike the vast majority of tie knots, the narrow part is used to create it, resulting in a cascading braid effect similar to a fishtail. It is a very elegant knot that will make a great impression on your boss.

Trinity Knot
 Trinity Knot
Are you looking for a knot that catches your attention? This one certainly is, because it has a three-way symmetry, whose pattern is concentrated in a central point, which produces a very striking effect. It seems to be a very complex knot, but the movements are actually quite simple. The design converges to a central point, producing a very striking effect. It may seem complicated at first glance, but the steps are actually quite simple.

Simple or American Knot

American Knot
The classic par excellence is the simplest, fastest, and is usually suitable for executives and businessmen, as it combines with all kinds of shirt collars without difficulty. Its asymmetrical appearance gives a slightly lighter touch to your look. It is one of the most used knots. It's easy to do and undo and perfect for most neckties and for almost all shirt collars. Finally, to be successful in making the simple knot, it is necessary to keep the knot in harmony with the collar of the shirt. It should not be too concealed, nor too far from the neck.

Simple Double Knot

The simple double knot is identical to the previous one, with the exception that one more turn is added when the tie is rolled over itself. The reason? Shorten the length of the garment and give more volume to the knot, when it is too narrow or the fabric is too light. Due to its characteristics, the double knot is perfect for men of medium-low stature. It's perfect for Italian collars and ties a little thin. It's easy and quick to do.

Crossed Knot
  Crossed Knot
Another very elegant version of the tie knot is the crossed knot, although it is almost in disuse due to its complication. It consists of crossing the tie between the first and the second loop, so it is advisable to use it only with thin ties.

Windsor or English Knot

Windsor Knot
It is the most elegant variant of the tie knot. As its name suggests, it was born in the heart of England, and its shape is perfectly symmetrical and triangular, which adds great complexity to its development. The English Knot is also characterized by its XL volume (which requires the most laps), so it can only be combined with long and narrow ties.
If this is not the case, you can subtract one turn and turn it into a half Windsor or Spanish Knot. Yes, when it is time to tie the tie around the neck, keep in mind that this is a delicate garment made of silk, so a greater number of turns will abuse the fabric. Do not stretch it and try to avoid leaving it too tight, to preserve it better.

The Middle Windsor
   Middle Windsor Knot
It is similar to the Windsor with a certain volume although not so much this one.  It is a type of knot that gives the tie a great prominence for what it is perfect to wear with an Italian collar shirt.

Rose Knot

Rose Knot
This one has similarities with the Trinity knot, the big difference is the extra round. The Rose Knot has a unique touch of elegance and romance, which is why it is recommended for dinners and social events that are accompanied by the couple.

Ascot Knot
 Ascot Knot
Its appearance resembles more a handkerchief loop than the traditional tie. It is usually a bit hollowed out and combined with casual wear.

True Love Knot

True Love Knot
The True Love Knot is a complex and sophisticated knot that is divided into four quadrants. However, it’s a very difficult knot that will take you a good practice time. We recommend you choose a striped tie to get a mill effect.  If you have time to make a more elaborate, elegant and striking knot, the one indicated is True Love. This knot is somewhat complicated since it is divided into 4 parts.

Small Knot

Small Knot
Only suitable for thick ties, the small knot is very simple to make, with the only complication that needs a braid of 180 degrees over the wide part after passing the garment behind the neck.

Fishbone Knot

Fishbone Knot
This impressive knot is shaped like a fishbone. It is a formal and remarkable knot that is gaining more admiration. Although it is a bit difficult to do, it is definitely worth the effort.

Ellie Knot
    Ellie Knot

It is a variant of Eldredge but easier to tie and consumes less fabric. It also leaves a tail that allows you to tighten or loosen as if it were a Windsor. It works best with half-open neck openings.

Bow-Tie Knot
 Bow-Tie Knot
The Bow Tie or Bowtie is a male fashion accessory usually worn with formal attire, such as a suit or tuxedo. It consists of a ribbon of cloth tied around the neck symmetrically so that the opposite ends form two loops.

Cape Knot

Cape Knot
This is the riskiest tie knot and you should use it paying close attention to the details. The collar of the shirt must be stylized. And if it's white or solid color, better. Before a complex knot, it is best to keep the simplicity in the rest of the style.

Atlantic Tie Knot

Atlantic Tie Knot
The Atlantic Tie Knot is undoubtedly one of the most original and modern. This tie knot is different from all the others by a peculiarity. It is a triple knot. It is presented as three tie knots aligned with the central knot being larger. Some fans of this knot say that it appears in the movie "Matrix".

Oriental Tie Knot
  Oriental Tie Knot
The Oriental Tie Knot is the one that requires the least movements to be made. It is a knot that is very fashionable in the young people of China. It's very easy to do. Here I leave an image for you to learn to do it.

Conclusion:

The ties are undoubtedly the perfect element for men to achieve elegant, using the suit they prefer, because currently there is a wide variety of styles, colors, and sizes, which are complemented by different types of knots, which make the difference in every style of outfit.

Wear a good tie or bow tie and give the note! Whatever type of knot you choose to carry, you should always have considered the length of the tie, so that the tip of the tie should always rub the belt buckle. Now you know the theory, but now you have to put it into practice!
