Before Heath Ledger was giving us nightmares as the Joker in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, he was the man of our dreams in 10 Things I Hate About You.

The year was 1999. Heath (yeah, we're on a first-name basis now) was a handsome teenager starring opposite Julia Stiles in 10 Things I Hate About You, a romantic comedy adapted from William Shakespeare's play The Taming of the Shrew. His character, Patrick Verona, was a brooding, mysterious hunk who got hired to court a brooding, mysterious babe against all odds. Spoiler alert: (can you spoil an 18-year-old movie?) he totally pulls it off, and looks super-sexy doing it.

So the premise was a little cheesy, but it was the '90s, and high school rom-coms were legit. Plus, it was Heath Ledger; he could have the Arby's menu with that accent and we still would have given it an MTV Movie Award.
