About Me

I am a Professor in the English Language for Academic Purposes Program at Montgomery College's Rockville campus. I teach a range of Academic English courses to multilingual students who are preparing for college studies and/or better career opportunities. I also engage in and with research in many ways. I love the work I do.

I received my undergraduate degrees in English literature and German language and literature at the University of Delhi, in India. I earned my M.Ed. and Ph.D. degrees in TESOL at the University of Maryland, College Park. As a global citizen and a transnational migrant who now lives across nations, languages, and cultures, I believe that it is crucial for students and educators to acquire intercultural and translingual competence to successfully navigate complex 21st-century realities, and this is foundational to my pedagogy and research.

I believe in sustainable living as well as the role of a good lifestyle in managing health. In keeping with this, I have been teaching myself how to grow organic food through a 'no till, no kill' method that I have been perfecting over the last many years. In my free time, I also dabble in photography, travel to new places, and try out new vegetarian recipes.
