This large dust devil was spotted just after 3 p.m. Wednesday passing through the Alsco Irrigation parking lot on Antelope Boulevard in Red Bluff.

“There was hardly any wind that I could detect, and yet, there was the ‘tornado’ over 100 feet tall slowly moving to my left,” said witness Floyd Stearns. “At one point it nearly disappeared then quickly built back up again and continued moving. It went on for about 40 seconds and finally disappeared altogether.”

Temperatures reached 111 degrees Wednesday with winds of 18 mph, gusting to 23 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
