Emmerdale’s Charley Webb reveals she and husband Matthew Wolfenden aren’t ‘romantic anymore’ amid lockdown rows

EMMERDALE'S Charley Webb has revealed that she and husband Matthew Wolfenden aren't "romantic anymore" as they row in lockdown.

The 32-year-old actress - who plays Debbie Dingle in the ITV soap - lifted the lid on her marriage over the past year as they try to cope with the ongoing struggles of the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Charley said “I think we’ve been together for so long. We’re at that stage where we’ve got kids."

Matthew jokingly added: “We’re bored of each other, is that what you’re trying to say?”

Charley replied: “Yes! But there is a sense that we’re so comfortable with each other we just don’t need to do all those sorts of gestures."

The star admitted that they are not the same romantic couple but have become a "partnership" over the last 15 years.

She added: “We’ve been together 15 years and we’re a team and a partnership. If Matthew bought me something, I’d be like, 'What have you done?' We’re not the most romantic couple.

"In a lot of ways, I think that’s why it works, because we don’t put any pressure on our relationship."

Charley and Matt, who plays David Metcalfe on the soap alongside his wife, share three boys together and live together in their stunning North Yorkshire pad.

But since the lockdown, the star has had to get used to juggling the kids, work and the added pressure of homeschooling.

Matthew admitted that the pair have argued, mainly about the kids or the state of their home.

He explained: “It is hard and we have argued. You’re bound to argue when you’re stuck in a house 24/7 with three kids and they are playing up.

"We’ve had our little moments but I’ve not spoken to one person who hasn’t.”

Matthew also teased fans saying that he'd love another child but the decision was down to Charley.

She added: "It’d be nice to experience a little girl but you can’t choose and you just want a healthy baby. I feel like I’m destined to have boys.”

The pair share Buster, 10, Bowie, five and Ace - Charley revealed that she has been reduced to tears by the stresses of homeschooling.

She said: "Some days you just wake up and you don't feel great. You think 'Oh god, I've got another day' and it's like Groundhog Day every day.

"Some days it feels too much and you think 'How can I make it more fun or interesting?' Then there's the stress of homeschooling, which is the worst part.

"Some days you just need to take yourself away and have a bit of a dry, and then you feel so much better afterwards.

"But I know us having the kids at home driving us insane is nothing compared with what some other people are going through."

After getting together in 2007, Charley and Matt got engaged two years later in 2009.
