Powerscourt Gardens
n the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains, just outside of Dublin, is a beautiful old 18th century estate and gardens, called Powerscourt. The estate features a restored mansion and some pretty impressive stately gardens that are kept in perfect condition. The house and gardens have been used in several movies, most notably the Count of Monte Cristo.
I spent some time there the other day, and I took my camera to photograph the gorgeous flowers and gardens. There are lots of roses about the grounds, and the large formal lawns are also impressive. Hidden at the far corner of the estate is an ornate Japanese gardens, and it features some unique offerings too. It’s a pleasure to walk around, and it wasn’t too busy, so it was a nice and relaxing walk in a very beautiful part of Ireland.
