Lolo Jones on her comeback for Rio, decision to remain celibate

Olympic hurdler Lolo Jones spoke about the challenge she faces coming back from a season during which she was hampered by injuries.

She told CBS This Morning on Tuesday that she underwent two surgeries within a year to repair a torn labrum in a shoulder and hip.

“Although I’ve tasted success; I’ve also tasted a lot of failure,” she told CBS. “I think for me knowing you have to take joy in the small victories.

“How your attitude is when you cross the finish line is how you enter the next race. … If you fail … make sure you adjust your attitude.”

Jones said she’s working out again in her preparations for Rio, where she’d turn 34 if she makes the U.S. Olympic team. She was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2012 London Games, then went on to compete at the 2014 Sochi Olympics in women’s bobsled.

She was also asked about her decision to remain celibate, which she does “to honor my future husband. I’m a devout Christian; I believe in that.”

Is it hard? “It’s extremely hard. It brings a lot of lonely nights.”
