Särkisalo - an Idyllic Seaside Village

Free

The Särkisalo in southern Salo coastal area has a strong presence of the sea and nature. The area, which consists of bigger and smaller islands, has beaches, cliffs and diverse nature. In Särkisalo you can experience the beautiful coastal nature. For cycling and outdoor activities, you will find atmospheric gravel and dirt roads that meander through countryside and sea shores. You drive from one island to another using embankments, bridges and a small ferry.

Summer is the busiest time in Särkisalo. The harbor is filled with boats and the cottages enliven the life of the whole area. Summer cafés and restaurants open their doors and from their terraces it is nice to follow the relaxed island life. A joint effort will decorate the Midsummerpole, celebrate Särkisalo Day and smaller events and festivities. On a hot summer day, it is refreshing to go swimming on the sandy beaches of either Meripirtti or Förby and sit on the warm cliff admiring the sunset.

In spring and autumn, the waters of Särkisalo offer a great opportunity to fish either from the shore or from a boat.
