Phil Laak Doubles Thru Jon Borenstein

Feb 26, 2017

Phil Laak

A few minutes after Phil Laak (pictured) folded a full house (read about that hand here), he sees a flop from the big blind against Jon Borenstein on the button. The flop comes Club 9Diamond 6Spade 2, Laak checks the big blind, Borenstein bets 2,500 from the button, and Laak calls.

The turn card pairs the board with the Diamond 2, Laak checks, Borenstein bets 6,000, and Laak tanks for a while before he moves all in for a little more than 20,000.

Borenstein quickly calls with Spade KDiamond K, but Laak turns over Heart ADiamond A. Borenstein seems surprised to see the aces, saying, “What?”

The river card is the Spade 10, and the pocket aces hold up for Laak to win the pot and double up in chips.

Phil Laak  –  55,000  (46 bb)
Jon Borenstein  –  74,000  (62 bb)
