The Retro Electro Official Sega Mega Drive Scale Model is a highly detailed, non-functioning, 1:2.3 scale model of the original console. It has movable switches and cartridge mechanism and comes complete with a stand, controller, replica retail box, info-card and Sonic The Hedgehog replica cartridge!

Wouldn’t it be great if gamers could easily build a collection of old retro consoles and computers? Unfortunately for most, the old systems are becoming harder to find and increasing in price – not to mention finding the space to display them all! Retro Electro Models aim to solve this with miniature and accurate representations of some old classics. The Retro Electro Offficial SEGA Mega Drive 1:2.3 scale model is the first of these licensed miniatures and measuring 12cm will look great on display. The model comes with a Sonic The Hedgehog cartridge, a controller and stand, a replica of the original retail box, an info-card made to look like the original manual and a display stand to place the console on. Where possible the switches and cartridge mechanisms also work and in the case of this SEGA Mega Drive, the power, volume and cartridge slot all move.

NOTE: As our models are non-functioning it allows us to concentrate on detail and accuracy. When the classic games from the era can be played on many other modern platforms why ruin a great replica with USB and HDMI ports!

I first saw these models online from some YouTube videos and was intrigued to get one myself.

Thanks to the "joy of prime" the model turned up next day, and I was incredibly eager to get the box open and take a look.

What I was presented with was a really nice box, officially licensed messaging, and a really sleek looking box. Once open each little part is individually sectioned out and the WOW factor really starts. Seeing a mini version of the original Mega Drive box was such a nice little touch, but its the console and pad which I was mostly interested in.

Once I had all the little parts out, I was astonished the level of detail including a VERY small replicated cartridge of Sonic the Hedgehog. What was a really nice touch was actually being able to put the cart into the unit, which gives the entire model a complete finish.

Now, the main Sega Mega Drive is incredibly detailed. A beautifully modelled unit, with moving volume slider and power button. It brings back so many memories of using my old Mega Drive 1 unit, and you will too once you hold this model in your hand. Also, the control pad is INCREDIBLY detailed for such a small model too. With these comes 2 little stands. One for the control pad and one for the main console.

In closing, if you are looking for an officially licensed model of the Sega Mega Drive, with incredible detail and presented in a beautiful manner this is the product for you.

As you can see from the photo, compared to a 50p it's a nice size to be put on display. Well made, with nice and precise mouldings/casting/rendering, it's the nearest I've ever got to owning a real Mega Drive.

Also, it's a nice talking point.

I look forward to more in this range/series.
