Adam Lambert is really rocking his copper-toned hair at the moment. Can you share your thoughts on the style and some top tips for re-creating it to that perfectly coiffed height?

Carmelo Guastella: Although he originally caught the attention of Brian May and Roger Taylor for his rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” on American Idol rather than his bouffant, it’s true that touring frontman of the band Queen, Adam Lambert, is a glam rock god.

The singer must have felt under pressure stepping into late singer Freddie Mercury’s shoes, but there’s been no stopping Lambert’s success, with him also being the first openly gay performer to go straight to the top of the US Billboard charts with his second album, Trespassing.

Perhaps this recently copper-toned coiffure is Lambert’s nod to his recently expressed interest in playing George Michael if a biopic were ever to be made about the late singer. It’s a complex and detailed hairstyle with a modern mid-fade, so ask your barber to ensure the top has varying lengths to create a choppy and unstructured look.

The quiff also needs to have lots of texture with the longer length, as this contributes to the pompadour effect without completely strutting back to the 1960s rock look. And the lighter streaks help to highlight the texture.

Styling is important to ensure your barnet doesn’t bite the dust, so apply Bumble And Bumble's Thickening Spray onto damp hair to add extra density, body and strength.

Finish with a blow-dry and Fudge Sky Scraper hairspray to build up that beautiful bouffant and you’re good to go to glam rock heaven.
